ABOUT US
The authors are the husband and wife team, Barrie and Wendy Armstrong.  Born in County Durham and Yorkshire respectively they have lived in Cheshire for the past 40 years.

They carved out successful careers in their chosen fields of Environmental Health and Social Work before they took early retirement in order to indulge their shared passion for the Arts and Crafts Movement.  In 1997 they set out to discover and record the legacy of the Movement in the North of England, and after cutting their teeth on a series of magazine articles they set about compiling their widely acclaimed first book, The Arts and Crafts Movement in the North West of England: A Handbook, which was published by Oblong in 2005.

In the 8 years since then they have extended their researches and returned to the stomping grounds of their childhoods in the North East of England and Yorkshire.  The end result of their Herculean efforts is the simultaneous publication of two new and exciting glove-compartment-friendly books:

The Arts and Crafts Movement in Yorkshire: A Handbook – 424 pages, 535 colour photographs
